FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WOODY PITKAT TAKES CONTROL
FOR HILLBILLY RACING
Westfield, NC (June 13, 2007) – Hillbilly Racing has named Woody Pitkat of Stafford, CT as the new driver of the #79 Coors Light modified. He replaces Chuck Hossfeld who had been the team’s driver since the beginning of the 2006 season. Pitkat will make his debut for Hillbilly Racing at the next Whelen Modified Tour event on Thursday June 21st at Thompson Speedway.
Pitkat is coming off the most successful season of his career, having won the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series regional championship, the Thompson Speedway Sunoco Modified championship and the Stafford Speedway Late Model championship. He has extensive open-wheel experience at both Thompson and Stafford, two tracks that make up nearly half of the Whelen Modified Tour schedule.
Tuesday night, Pitkat was in the shop working on his racecars when the call came from the Hill’s. “This is a dream come true,” said Pitkat. “I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity. This is where I want to be.” The hard work over recent years has helped lead to this moment. “The last five or six years I’ve worked really hard to get the know the cars better and understand them. This has helped me communicate better with the crew in the pits and helps make faster racecars.
Crew Chief David Hill is ready to start the next chapter for Hillbilly Racing. “We’re starting to build for 2008 right now. Woody is a young driver with drive and desire. We talked to a lot drivers and believe that this decision will pay off in the future.”
With this new ride, the twenty-seven year old will be one of the busiest drivers in racing. He will continue to drive a Sunoco Modified at Thompson on Thursday nights as well as a SK Modified and Late Model at Stafford on Friday nights. Pitkat is happy he’ll be able to continue with these commitments. “I owe it to these teams to finish,” he said. “They’re a big part of why I’ve had this success and able to get this chance.”
